3 Reasons Why You Should Try to Work While Standing Upright to Improve You Health & Success

  • 1. Sitting for long periods of time at work makes for lazy muscles, contributes to lower levels of productivity, and can take years off of your life. Much like sitting around being a couch potato watching too much TV, sitting all the time is no good for you. Standing while working encourages you to focus more on the task at hand, keeps you in a mode that is not too comfortable, and works your lower body muscles and aligns your spine. No slouching is possible if you are standing while working!

  • 2. When you work standing up, it changes your viewpoint. Try to find a work space that is near a window, if that is not too distracting. Please choose to work with a plant on your work space, for positive energy, oxygen, and increasing your productivity levels.

  • 3. When you stand to work, if you are feeling a need to take a break or a nap, you will really feel it. If you were working in a chair, you are more apt to possibly falling asleep on the job, or slouching which is bad for your posture! Taking a 15 to 20 minute power nap occasionally in your workday if possible, can really help recharge your batteries, and leave you feeling refreshed and ready to tackle your work with even more new ideas and a positive outlook!

* You don’t need to invest in a standing desk. Consider working on the top of a high dresser, table, or a counter space. *
